All the best movies need a sequel and Joe Stilgoe's popular tribute to the silver screen, Songs On Film, is no different. Curtis Stigers guests.
This new studio recording takes listeners on a whirlwind tour of the movies with classics such as 'Arthur's Theme' from the Dudley Moore favourite Arthur and 'You Never Can Tell' from Pulp Fiction.
Joe opens the album with 'What's On?', an original track which showcases the lyrical and musical flair which prompted The Observer to describe him as 'a songwriter of uncommon ability'.
The Monsters Inc. favourite, 'If I Didn't Have You', sees Joe and special guest Curtis Stigers take on the roles of Mike and Sulley, originally sung by Billy Crystal and John Goodman. Joe pays homage to his jazz roots with the Duke Ellington standard 'Caravan'. Featured in the 2014 film Whiplash, which is set in the world of jazz drumming, this track showcases the talents of his rhythm section: Ben Reynolds (drums) and Tom Farmer (bass).
With songs taken from across the decades (a special 80s medley is a highlight) this is a must for film fans.
