“Ana-Marija Markovina presents an extremely sensitive interpretation of Edward Grieg’s piano concerto. Already in the first movement feelings are stirred up with changing tempos, and the Adagio is played very slowly and emotionally. The final movement sounds joyful and magnificent. The Swede Franz Berwald (1796-1868) was a very classical composer, with little depth to be felt, but the charm, the elegance and a human openness and talkativeness in consistently pleasing music cannot be denied. The performers do exactly that to make Berwald’s Piano Concerto attractive.” ****
