About
Paolo Pandolfo’s second album for Glossa, recorded in the winter of 1995 in the church of Sornetan (Switzerland), features a selection of pieces from the two books with music for the viola da gamba published by “Captain” Tobias Hume: Musicall Humors (1605) and Poeticall Musicke (1607). A solid ensemble including Guido Balestracci on a second viol, and Eduardo Eguez on plucked string instruments, provides for a big variety in the performance of this fascinating repertory. And, very especially, on this recording we can enjoy the voice of the legendary English soprano Emma Kirkby on three of the pieces.
