Here is another one of the fabulous recordings auto-recorded by Jose Miguel Moreno in his home studio in San Lorenzo de El Escorial in the 1990’s, here presenting a theorbe de pieces, a type of instrument in D used by Robert de Visee himself for performing his marvelous solo compositions, smaller than the generally used accompanying theorbo in A. Robert de Visee is undoubtedly one of the very big names of the French Baroque. His Chaconne en ut majeur and his intabulations of Les Sylvains and Les Bergeries by Couperin are among the most delightful pieces one might ever listen to.
