America – for Two Pianos. It is certainly difficult to secure a place in the sun on the hotly contested battleground of the pianist market. The competition is enormously fierce! And what is difficult enough for one is doubly difficult when a way has to be found to haul two grand pianos onto the stage (or into the recording studio). The Genova & Dimitrov Piano Duo has succeeded in playing its way to the top and in documenting its impressive interpretive artistry on a current total of six recordings on cpo. The critics were full of enthusiasm for the duo’s most recent CD with French piano concertos: »Aglika Genova & Liuben Dimitrov demonstrate their art of joint, superbly allied action. A duo forming what may be termed a perfect union!« (klassik-heute) The new release comes in response to an express repertoire request submitted by the duo, and the result is a portrait of American music featuring works by Gershwin, Bernstein, and Copland and performed with the greatest pianistic virtuosity.
