Crouch End Festival Chorus
Founded in 1984, Crouch End Festival Chorus (CEFC) has established a reputation as one of the country’s leading symphonic choirs, repeatedly commended for its communicative power and versatility. Under its conductor, David Temple, the choir gives concerts that illuminate the choral world with imaginative and bold programming, in which established choral works are mixed with commissions of great variety and innovation. It is much in demand among the UK’s top orchestras and performs regularly with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus; in 2016 it gave its twelfth BBC Proms performance, the UK premiere, under Edward Gardner, of Lera Auerbach’s The Infant Minstrel and His Peculiar Menagerie. It has appeared in recent concert performances of Britten’s War Requiem, under Semyon Bychkov, and Berlioz’s Grande Messe des morts, under François-Xavier Roth, among others. In constant demand for recording work and live promotions, CEFC has worked with musicians from the rock and pop world and with television and film composers; it has enjoyed regular collaborations with such patrons as Ennio Morricone and Hans Zimmer. Crouch End is a vibrant area of north London, lying beneath the iconic Alexandra Palace; many of the singers are local to this part of London, though a large number come from various corners of South East England to rehearse and perform. www.cefc.org.uk
