Aquarelle Guitar Quartet

The dynamic and innovative Aquarelle Guitar Quartet is known for its extraordinary ensemble in performance, expansive repertoire, and ground-breaking work in developing the guitar quartet medium. It has performed extensively across the UK and abroad to critical acclaim, and is admired for its original arrangements of music from a wide range of styles, periods, and cultures.

Dedicated to presenting music from around the globe, the group also frequently performs new works by internationally renowned composers such as Clarice Assad (Brazil), Carlos Rafael Rivera (U.S.A), Phillip Houghton (Australia), Stephen Dodgson (U.K) and Nikita Koshkin (Russia), as well as drawing on existing repertoire. Formed in 1999 at the Royal Northern College of Music, under the guidance of Craig Ogden and Gordon Crosskey, the Quartet went on to study with renowned guitarists such as Sérgio Assad, Oscar Ghiglia, and Scott Tennant. Since then, it has won many awards and continues to receive regular invitations to perform at Europe’s leading music festivals and concert venues. The quartet made its debut in Asia in 2014 with a series of concerts in Seoul and was invited to returned to South Korea in 2016.

The Quartet’s previous four albums for Chandos, “Dances” (released in June 2010), “Spirit of Brazil” (March 2009), “Final Cut” (June 2012) and Cuatro (Nov 2013), all received excellent reviews from the press and were enthusiastically received by the media generally.
