An artist of keen musicality and sweeping virtuosity, the pianist Xiayin Wang has brought audiences to their feet with playing in the grand romantic tradition. She has made numerous celebrated recordings and performed throughout the world, from New York’s Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center to music centres in South America, Europe, and Asia, exciting music lovers and critics alike with her impressive artistry. As a successful recording artist, she has produced a series of discs for Chandos Records that have drawn critical international acclaim, Gramophone calling them ‘four out of four superb discs in succession’. Her recordings of solo piano works by Rachmaninoff prompted the magazine BBC Music to laud her technique as ‘flawless’, while Gramophone praised her ‘awesome clarity and poise’, selecting both discs as Editor’s Choice. Her disc of American piano concertos was crowned Disc of the Month by MusicWeb International. She maintains a busy concert career in North America, Europe, and Asia, having performed with the Baltimore, Houston, and Pittsburgh symphony orchestras, Wiener KammerOrchester, Israel Chamber Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma, among others. In addition, she appears frequently in recital, at such venues as Alice Tully Hall in New York, the Mozart-Saal in the Wiener Konzerthaus, and in France, Italy, Hungary, Russia, Mexico, Cuba, Chile, Costa Rica, and her native China. Engaged by Gerard Schwarz as a soloist in his acclaimed All-Star Orchestra, Xiayin Wang was featured as part of a nationally broadcast series of performances on syndicated PBS stations throughout the United States in the autumn of 2013.
