Sophie Bevan
A graduate of the Benjamin Britten International Opera School, the soprano Sophie Bevan has worked with conductors such as Sir Antonio Pappano, Daniel Harding, Andris Nelsons, Edward Gardner, Laurence Cummings, Sir Mark Elder, Sir Neville Marriner, and Sir Charles Mackerras. A noted recitalist, she has performed at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam and Wigmore Hall, London. She has also appeared at the BBC Proms and the Edinburgh, Aldeburgh, and Tanglewood festivals. She has appeared at The Royal Opera, Covent Garden, English National Opera, and Oper Frankfurt in roles such as Polissena (Radamisto), Télaïre (Castor et Pollux), the title role in The Cunning Little Vixen, Ninetta (La gazza ladra), Waldvogel (Siegfried), Ilia (Idomeneo), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), and Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro). She made her debut at Glyndebourne Festival Opera as Michal (Saul), at Teatro Real, Madrid as Pamina, and the Salzburger Festspiele in the world première of Thomas Adès’s The Exterminating Angel. Sophie Bevan was the recipient of a 2010 Critics’ Circle Award for Exceptional Young Talent, nominated for the 2012 Royal Philharmonic Society Awards, and the recipient of The Times Breakthrough Award at the 2012 South Bank Sky Arts Awards and the Young Singer Award at the 2013 inaugural International Opera Awards.
