Matthew Brook
The bass-baritone Matthew Brook has appeared as a soloist throughout Europe, Australia, South Africa and the Far East, working extensively as a recitalist and concert artist with Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Richard Hickox, Sir Charles Mackerras, Harry Christophers, Christophe Rousset and Paul McCreesh among others, and ensembles such as the Philharmonia Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Freiburger Barockorchester, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Gabrieli Consort, The Sixteen, Les Talens Lyriques and Orchestre nationale de Lille. He has performed Bach’s Mass in B minor with Collegium Vocale Gent and Philippe Herreweghe, Handel’s Apollo e Dafne with Retrospect Ensemble and Matthew Halls at the Wigmore Hall, Zuniga in Bizet’s Carmen at the Opéra-Comique in Paris, Haydn’s Die Jahreszeiten with Sir John Eliot Gardiner and the Monteverdi Choir, Mozart’s Requiem with the City of London Sinfonia, Messiah in Boston with Harry Christophers and the Handel and Haydn Society, and with The Sixteen, and the King of Scotlandin Handel’s Ariodante with Il Complesso Barocco and Alan Curtis. Matthew Brook’s discography includes Berlioz’s L’Enfance du Christ with Richard Hickox and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and Bach’s St Matthew Passion and a Gramophone Award-winning recording of Handel’s original Dublin score of Messiah, both with the Dunedin Consort, besides numerous CDs for Chandos
