Since his highly praised Carnegie Hall début in New York City, the saxophonist Marco Albonetti has been engaged for performances and master-classes around the world. He has been awarded first prize at several international solo and chamber music competitions and has appeared at myriad Italian theatres and numerous distinguished international venues, among them the Wiener Saal in Salzburg, Konzerthaus Berlin, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Palau de la Música de València, Palau de la Música Catalana de Barcelona, Teatro Español de Madrid, Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna, Sverdlovsk State Philharmonic Hall in Yekaterinburg, Wits Great Hall in Johannesburg, Zhongshan Hall in Taipei, and Aram Khachaturian Hall in Yerevan. He is active in the performance of both traditional and contemporary music, having worked with Luciano Berio and premièred works by many major composers. His concert tours have taken him to Armenia, Belgium, Canada, China, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Italy, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, and the United States. He regularly performs as soloist with Italian and international orchestras and takes part in many important international music festivals. He has performed for radio and television, notably RAI 1, SABC, PIK 1, CBS, Hong Kong Public Radio, Lumiere TV, Cypriot Radio, and Wisconsin Public Radio, and amassed a large discography. Since 2005 he has been the saxophonist for the legendary Italian ‘diva’ Milva, performing music of Astor Piazzolla and Kurt Weill, and giving recitals in prominent European theatres. Marco Albonetti is the Founder and Artistic Director of the SaxArt Festival in Faenza, holds a tenured position as Professor of Saxophone at the Conservatorio ‘F.A. Bonporti’ in Trento, where he has a class of international students, was named external examiner for Doctoral Studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, and in autumn 2020 was appointed Professor of Chamber Music at the prestigious Fondazione Accademica Internazionale ‘Incontri con il Maestro’ in Imola, Italy.
