Lisa Friend
Lisa Friend has performed as a soloist with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, Virtuosi Pragenses, and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. She has toured throughout Europe, the USA, and Asia, been broadcast on Classic FM, BBC Radio 3, and BBC London, and given solo recitals for Steven Spielberg and his USC Shoah Foundation, the Royal Family at Buckingham Palace, LG Arts Center in Seoul, Wigmore Hall and Cadogan Hall in London, and alongside Liza Minnelli in aid of the White Rose Ball fundraiser. Her many recordings as a solo artist include Deep in My Soul and Luminance, which was chosen as Classic FM CD of the Weekend (January 2014), David Mellor’s Album of the Week (five-star review) in the Mail on Sunday, and aired on BBC Radio 3, BBC London, BBC Radio 2, Classic FM, and RTÉ Lyric FM. Her latest solo CD, Cinema Affair, with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, was chosen as Classic FM Album of the Week in both the UK (June 2016) and The Netherlands (August 2016). Having spent her early years in the USA, Lisa Friend studied with Renée Siebert of the New York Philharmonic before winning a scholarship, at seventeen, to study with Susan Milan at the Royal College of Music; she pursued her postgraduate studies as a ‘Martin Music Scholar’ with the late Alain Marion in Paris.
