Enjoying a hugely varied performing career on a diverse spectrum of keyboard instruments, Jonathan Scott is, as well as a pianist and organist, a specialist in music for the art harmonium; he and his brother Tom, also a pianist, maintain a busy concert schedule as the Scott Brothers Duo. Born in Manchester, he studied piano and organ at Chetham’s School of Music before gaining a scholarship on both instruments to attend the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), continuing his studies in the USA and The Netherlands with the aid of a Countess of Munster Scholarship. He has won the coveted W.T. Best Memorial Scholarship and the gold medal of The Worshipful Company of Musicians and is a Freeman of The City of London. He has been a member of the keyboard staff at the RNCM since 2001 and is also Associate Artist of The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, where he gives a series of popular lunchtime organ recitals. He has recently performed concertos with the BBC Philharmonic, Orchestra of Opera North, and Royal Scottish National Orchestra, made solo appearances at the BBC proms, given mid-Atlantic performances on Queen Mary 2, and offered a series of performances as organ and piano soloist at The Royal Albert Hall, London. He is soon to make solo appearances with the Hallé and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and give the premiere of a new organ concerto by Karl Jenkins in Hull, the 2017 City of Culture. Tom and Jonathan Scott have released several duo recordings which have received great critical acclaim and wide international airplay, the Duo’s online performance videos having totalled more than 1.5 million views. www.jonathanscott.co.uk
