Craig Ogden
The Australian-born guitarist Craig Ogden is one of the most exciting artists of his generation. He studied guitar from the age of seven and percussion from the age of thirteen. In 2004, in recognition of his achievements, he became the youngest instrumentalist to receive a Fellowship from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. His many recordings, including more than half a dozen for Chandos, have received wide acclaim. His debut solo album led the magazine BBC Music to dub him ‘a worthy successor to Julian Bream’, and it was also nominated for a Grammy award. He regularly appears as a soloist and chamber musician at the major London venues, and has performed as soloist in concertos with all the major orchestras in the UK and also in the USA, Italy, Russia, Latvia, South Africa and Australia. His recordings are frequently broadcast on BBC Radio 3 where he has also been heard as a presenter. At the time of writing he is the second most broadcast artist on the UK’s Classic FM radio after Joshua Bell. Craig Ogden is Principal Lecturer in Guitar at the Royal Northern College of Music. www.craigogden.com
